When installing larger diameter tires, it is recommended to change the variator settings also. If the variator settings are not changed, the clutch will try to engage too soon and variator changes the transmission gearing too early for the larger wheels, placing a heavy load on the variator belt, which could end with broken belt in the worst case.
If the variator belt has broken for some reason, it has probably generated high heat in the variator parts, which could also have effect on the
variator (clutch)spring. A loosen spring causes the clutch to engage too soon and the transmission gearing changes too early,
